Moving Forward with Gratitude and Purpose
As we move into the holiday season, I find myself reflecting on how grateful I am for this district and the people who make it what it is. Even as the world around us continues to change, our schools remain steady because of the hard work, care, and commitment that show up every day for our students.
One of the things that makes our district so special is the number of homegrown educators we have. These are people who grew up here, chose to stay, and now pour their hearts into supporting the next generation. They understand our community because it is part of who they are, and that deep connection makes a difference in our schools every single day.
Each of our campuses brings something unique to the table, and together they create opportunities for students that truly cannot be found anywhere else.
At Oak Creek Elementary School, students are encouraged to think critically and creatively through a strong STEM program that focuses on real world problem solving. The learning is hands-on, meaningful, and designed to prepare students for what lies ahead.
Mountain View Preparatory offers students the experience of being part of an International Baccalaureate school. Through this approach, students develop a global perspective, strong academic skills, and the ability to reflect thoughtfully on their learning and the world around them.
At Verde Tech, students are immersed in one of the region’s strongest agricultural programs. Through their work at Bent River Farms, they gain responsibility, discipline, and practical science skills while seeing the real purpose behind what they are learning.
Cottonwood Community School remains a place where culture is honored, and families feel truly connected. The community garden and family-centered approach help build relationships that strengthen the school and create a welcoming environment for everyone.
Dr. Daniel Bright School is grounded in a deeply embedded multi-tiered system of supports that ensures every student receives what they need to succeed. With the Focus Zone and the steady presence of Mr. Mike, student support is both structured and compassionate.
Across all our schools, the 21st Century After School Programs provide students with additional opportunities to grow. Whether through art, music, athletics, archery, STEM clubs, leadership groups, or other activities, these programs provide students with a safe, supportive environment beyond the regular school day. Out-of-school learning matters. It allows students to explore interests, build confidence, form friendships, and develop skills that support them both in the classroom and in life. These programs reflect our commitment to the whole child and would not be possible without our strong community partnerships.
This season gives us a chance to pause and recognize all the good happening across our district. None of it happens by chance. It is the result of dedicated staff, supportive families, and students who continue to show us what they are capable of. Over the past three years, every one of our schools has earned an A letter grade from the Arizona Department of Education, and they remain steady and strong today.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support and believe in our schools. We are proud of the work being done, grateful for the people who make it possible, and confident in the direction we are headed.
From my family to yours, I wish you a peaceful and meaningful holiday season.
Best,
