🎨 Mrs. Joan is back at Cottonwood Community School with our 21st CCLC after-school clubs, and this time she’s guiding students in creating a mural on one of our 90-foot walls! 🙌
Right now, the artists are still in the design phase, but we can’t wait to see what they come up with. 🌟 These students are bursting with creativity, and this project is going to be something special.
We’ll keep checking in on their progress and sharing pictures along the way—stay tuned! 👀✨

Today our Crosswalk K-12 GPS units arrived! These state-of-the-art systems will transform the way we manage school transportation by providing:
✅ Real-time vehicle visibility with 5-second precision
✅ Automated student ridership monitoring
✅ Smarter route optimization
With these tools, district leaders will be empowered to improve safety, increase efficiency, and give parents peace of mind knowing their child’s location.
Our team is working hard to have the units installed over Fall Break, with rollout scheduled once school is back in session. We’ll be sharing more updates once everything is up and running—stay tuned!
👏 A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible for our students, families, and community.

Superintendent Vocca met with Mrs. Adams’ Educators Rising students in the VACTE program to share her incredible journey in education.
As a homegrown educator, Mrs. Vocca began her path in this very program nearly 30 years ago and Mrs. Adams was her teacher. From there, Mrs. Vocca became a teacher, then a principal, and today she proudly serves as Superintendent of COCSD. 💙
She encouraged students by showing how big dreams can start small — right here at home — and gave them a behind-the-scenes look at school leadership, policies, and governance. 📚✨
What a powerful reminder that tomorrow’s leaders may be sitting in our classrooms today! 👏

At last night’s meeting, we were honored to have students from Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary School lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. 🇺🇸
We are excited to announce a new partnership with Sparklight! 💡 They have generously agreed to support our efforts in recognizing students and staff who embody COCSD’s core values of student-centered hard work. Each month, recipients of the Spark Award will receive a commemorative plaque and a $25 gift card.
This month, we were proud to recognize:
🏆 Mr. Cody Altringer – CCS
🏆 Mrs. Christianna Boxx – DDB
We also recognized two student who were unable to join us.
The Board also welcomed a presentation from Mr. Rick Evans with Hill & Lock, who demonstrated innovative Entry Guard locks. He also shared grant and private funding opportunities to help pilot the program in our schools.
Lastly, the Board approved the revised budget to keep our district moving forward with stability and growth.
👏 Thank you to our students, staff, partners, and community for your ongoing support of COCSD!
