🎨 21st CCLC – Be Creative Club at Oak Creek School 🌈 Our Be Creative Club has been having so much fun getting imaginative and a little messy lately! This week our young creators played with their food—but in the best artistic way. Using doughnuts and colorful ingredients, students created beautiful rainbow clouds that were as fun to make as they were to see. Creativity was definitely in the air! Last week we also began a special class project using clay. These amazing artists are working carefully on pieces that will take a few weeks to complete. It has been wonderful to watch their creative flair, patience, and talent shine as they shape and design their projects. Our students continue to impress us with their imagination and the pride they take in their work. We’re also taking advantage of the fun and excitement of the holiday season and upcoming spring break to bring even more creativity into our projects. We can’t wait to share their incredible creations with parents and families at our Night of Sharing on April 23rd! Until then, we hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Spring Break! ☀️🎨

🎉 Congratulations to Our Future Chef! 👩‍🍳

This week, Dr. Daniel Bright Elementary hosted our Sodexo Future Chefs Competition at DDB, and our young chefs did an amazing job showcasing their creativity and cooking skills!

🏆 Congratulations to our winner, Joanna Luney!
Joanna, a 2nd grader at OCS, impressed the judges with her delicious Chicken Broccoli Bacon Casserole.

We are so proud of all the students who participated and shared their recipes. Thank you to Sodexo and everyone who helped make this event such a fun and memorable experience for our students!

Our 21st CCLC after-school clubs at Cottonwood Community School are about more than just staying on campus — they’re about giving our students real experiences out in the community!

This week, two of our amazing club leaders made that happen in a big way. Debbie Earl took her "Outdoor Adventure Club" students rock climbing at CES, helping them build confidence and trust. Mr. Day brought his Archery Team to the Rim Country Bow Hunters Archery Range in Rimrock for some hands-on practice and skill building. 🎯🧗‍♀️

We are so grateful for our dedicated club leaders who go above and beyond to create opportunities our CCS students might not otherwise have. These experiences build confidence, teamwork, and memories that last far beyond the school day!

At OCS, we are incredibly fortunate to have teachers who pour their hearts into their classrooms every single day, and Mrs. Tiana Bond is a shining example of that dedication. As a 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Bond consistently goes above and beyond to create a classroom environment that is fun, engaging, and academically enriching for all of her students. ✏️✨

Mrs. Bond brings incredible enthusiasm to school each day and truly loves teaching her “friends”—as she affectionately calls her students. Her positive energy is contagious! 😊 Her class is always excited to come to school, eager to learn, and they know they are supported and valued every single day. ❤️

She is patient, kind, and deeply understanding, always meeting students where they are and helping them grow both academically and personally. Mrs. Bond works hard to make learning meaningful and memorable, ensuring that every student feels confident and capable. 🌱📖

📚✨ Read Across America Week in 21st Century Afterschool Clubs! ✨📚 Our clubs had an amazing week celebrating Read Across America! Students dressed up for spirit days—check out Taliyah in her favorite hat! 🎩 📖 Book Club & Storybook Club spent time reading and sharing great stories. 🏝️ Survivor Challenge Club dropped their buffs and merged tribes, voting on disadvantages at Tribal Council before the competition continued! 🧪 Science/STEM Club had a blast with hands-on experiments and their exciting Mentos challenge! 🌟 Staff Highlight: Ron Romero 🌟

We’re excited to spotlight Ron Romero, our new Learning Lab teacher at Verde Tech High School! Mr. Romero joined our team in December 2025 and brings 26 years of teaching experience to our campus.

Mr. Romero has extensive expertise in facilitating online high school courses, helping students stay on track and succeed in a flexible learning environment. He’s known for his patient and caring approach, while still maintaining high expectations that encourage students to do their very best.

Even though he hasn’t been at Verde Tech very long, Mr. Romero has already made a big impact on our campus. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling and watching NASCAR.

Read Across America was in full swing at DDB last week, welcoming our read-a-thon running through March 16th. Students had a great time decorating doors the past few weeks and were ecstatic on Friday to guess the goldfish count, enter raffles, eat green eggs and ham, and spend time with their friends and family.
